Description

This artifact is the firing portion of a Brown Bess Musket found on a shipwreck site in the Florida Keys near Carysfort Reef.  It is likely that this musket was found on a Royal Navy vessel due to this being the standard issue weapon during this time.

This musket was made during the dates 1722-1838 from primarily wood stock with brass fixtures.  It measures 11.35 inches in length and 1.9 inches x 1.85 inches in width.  The wooden and brass sections of the musket were found in close proximity to one another and were professionally pieced together during cleaning and restoration.  The artifact is sealed with a layer of thin protective wax to prevent further decay and to preserve this valuable history.

This artifact comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Global Xploration.
