Description
This artifact is a coin from the Southern Song Dynasty in China from the 1100’s. This coin was recovered from a shipwreck in the South China Sea likely from a merchant trade vessel.
This coin has been professionally cleaned and preserved. This artifact has a rounded outside edge and a squared inside edge. The square was used a support for filing the round edges of the coin. These coins were casted in molds rather than struck or screw pressed like other early coins. Some of these coins can still show their file marks and other marks from the molds.
This artifact comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Global Xploration.
