Description
This artifact is a ceramic ring portion of an olive jar recovered from the Nuestra Senora de Atocha shipwreck site in the Florida Keys. The Atocha was a Spanish vessel carrying valuable treasures around the southern tip of Florida and sank in a terrible storm. Olive jar fragments are a rarity from this shipwreck however even rarer are the intact olive jar rings like this one.
This olive jar ring is made of pottery clay and sand and measures 2" inner diameter, 3 7/8" outer diameter, and 3" in height.
