Description
This artifact is a Spanish Maravedi minted during the reign of King Philip III of Spain between the years 1598 – 1621. The coin was used as small currency during this time period.
On one side of the coin you will see the lion used as a symbol of strength and on the other you will see the castle. On the side with the lion you will see the date 1619. To the right side of the castle there is the mark II or III meaning that this is either a 2 or 4 Maravedi which distinguishes its value during this time period. You can see that this coin is a II Maravedi. This coin is made of copper and some pitting/damage can be seen along the sides of the coin. This coin has been professionally cleaned and comes sealed in a protective case.
